Laurier Teachers’ Union Volume 13 Edition 2
PIC:
This is a reminder that the application form is now done online. Once you submit the form, you get a response to your email address. You may have to check your ‘clutter file’ to view the acknowledgement.
Important:
Reimbursement forms must be sent by internal mail with all original receipts to Rosa Lucifero in Pedagogical Services department at the school board. Incomplete forms will be returned to the teacher and this will delay your reimbursement. You can download the form at the bottom of the PIC application page. If you have questions about filling out the form, do not hesitate to call me at the LTU office.
When you have questions or concerns about your PIC file, please cc me in the emails to Rosa Lucifero, so that I can help and intervene if necessary.
Multi-Grade Allocations:
An original amount of $350 per group was distributed to school principals at the beginning of the year. The final amount of approximately $98 per group is now being sent out to the principals. Remember these funds can be used according to Appendix XXV of the Provincial Agreement. These funds cover, among other things, the purchase of material, assuming responsibility occasionally for part of a group, release time for the preparation of material or training (at the choice of the teachers concerned).
Teacher Training:
The payments for teachers who had student teachers during the 2017-18 school year were paid on the December 13th pay. If you had a student teacher during that period and you had all the forms filled out, but you were not paid, contact me at the LTU office to investigate the situation.
Oversized Classes:
By mid-January your principal will be asking you to sign your oversized class compensation forms. If you believe your class is oversized, discuss it with your principal. If you are unsure and believe your class is oversized, do not hesitate to call me at the LTU office. Please have ready the number of students and the codes of these students in order to verify the size of the class. If a student is not receiving any services, all codes are used for the calculation of class size, not just the a priori codes (14, 50 and 53). Replace the student by the weighted value to determine weighted class size.
Sexuality Education:
As we begin the new year, the principals will be asking the timelines, for each level, that the Sexuality Education information will be taught so that it can be presented to Governing Board. This is a necessary process as per the Education Act.
Educational Project:
As of December, the Board has passed their new Commitment to Success plan. The next step is for the schools to align their Educational Project to the Board’s plan. The Educational Plan is a melange of the MESA and the Schools Success Plan. More information will be relayed to you next month on how to proceed since the plan is developed through consultation with teachers.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year
