REMINDER: NEW VOLUNTARY TRANSFER PROCESS

The new voluntary transfer process negotiated and piloted last year was a success and the same model for voluntary transfers will be used this school year.  Round 1 will include in-school and inter-school transfers but priority will be given to internal candidates. There will only be one (1) choice as opposed to three (3) as was the case in previous years.  The rest of the process remains the same in this round and there will be interviews if there is more than one candidate.

Round 2 will consist of one meeting held on Saturday, June 7th at Rosemere High School.  Teachers interested in transferring will have to register to attend the meeting (date to be determined).  A category change is possible provided that the teacher has confirmation from the board that they are deemed qualified prior to the meeting.  At the meeting, jobs will be offered by school and the post will be granted to the most senior teacher. Jobs left vacant by transfers will be added to the list and teachers will be able to request a transfer to those posts as well, which was not the case in previous years (those jobs went to recall).  We will advise you beforehand if there are any additional changes to the process.

There should be more information coming from the board shortly regarding the registration deadline and form to be used to attend the meeting.

VERIFICATION OF QUALIFICATIONS FOR VOLUNTARY TRANSFERS

In order to be able to change categories at the voluntary transfer meeting scheduled for June 7tht, HR must have deemed you qualified (in accordance with 5-21.05).  If you are unsure if you are qualified to apply for a given subject, please email Mr. Badin (fbadin@swlauriersb.qc.ca) by April 30th the latest.

JOB EXCHANGES

If you are interested in a potential job exchange with a teacher from another board, please visit the LTU website to find more information under the heading Job Exchanges (in the green folder).

LEAVES OF ABSENCE REQUESTS (FULL OR PARTIAL LEAVES)

Just a little reminder that full or partial leave of absence requests for the 2014-15 school year must be submitted to the Director of Human resources before April 1st, 2014.  The forms can be found in the SWL Portal or on the LTU Website (in green folder).  The boards grants you the percentage, but your principal will decide how the leave is represented in your schedule.  Before making the request, you should consider speaking to your principal.

It is also important to understand that, in most cases, you will have to justify your request to HR.  You should be prepared to provide additional information, if requested by the board (e.g. letter from employer stating that your spouse has been transferred, acceptance letters if you are planning to pursue studies, a description of your distressful or personal family situation, etc.).
